Chinese Home Remedies For Constipation
You can try these Chinese home remedies for constipation on yourself - they have worked for lots of people. But remember... ...it's far better to understand and follow the methods used in my practice that I describe on the relieving constipation page. They're based on the wisdom of ancient Oriental medicine and seek to stop the cause of the problem and promote overall health, not just cause your bowels to move today. Just causing your bowels to move today may not do anything to improve your constipation in the future, and, in some cases, can contribute to the underlying cause of your constipation, making it even worse. Having said that, here's some Chinese home remedies for constipation you may find useful... - Soak a towel in hot water, then place it under your anus for a few minutes to stimulate bowel movement
- While sitting on the toilet, do deep abdominal breathing, contracting and expanding your lower abdomen. This massages your intestines to stimulate peristalsis.
- Laugh a lot (watch comedy on TV, or whatever else it takes). Laughing massages your intestines to stimulate bowel movements.
- Drink 2 cups of warm water, followed by a 10-minute walk, about
20 - 30 minutes before breakfast everyday. - Maintain the same bathroom schedule everyday, 20 minutes before breakfast (even if you can't have a bowel movement, still go through the actions).
- Eat an ounce of walnuts before bedtime every night
- Use a juicer to juice a large potato. Mix the potato juice with 1 teaspoon of honey and drink 20 minutes before breakfast
- Lubricate your intestines by eating walnuts, sesame seeds and/or peanuts
- Eat a ripe banana with a cup of cold water and a teaspoon of honey 20 minutes before breakfast (I don't recommend this unless your constipation involves dry stools, and you are not generally fatigued)
- Use your index finger to press a spot approximately 2 inches to the left of your navel until it slightly aches, then continue for about 30 seconds. This is an acupuncture point that helps constipation.
- Use your index finger to press a spot approximately two thumb widths from your wrist crease up the backside of your forearm. Do it for about 60 seconds (I've had several people report good results to me after learning this).
- Significantly limit excess meat and dairy products
Again, these home remedies for constipation are more likely to be a temporary fix. To get over constipation once and for all, following the wisdom of ancient Oriental medicine discussed elsewhere on this site is a better approach.
